The H. Upmann No. 2 pirámide is a gem that often flies under the radar for many cigar enthusiasts. One of the standout aspects of the H. Upmann brand is its compact production scale, allowing for a more controlled and nuanced manufacturing process. Unlike some of Cuba's larger cigar brands, which have to distribute production across multiple locations due to their massive size, every H. Upmann cigar is carefully handcrafted at the H. Upmann Factory. Currently situated in the historic building that was once home to the Romeo y Julieta Factory, the H. Upmann Factory is overseen by José Miguel Barzaga Maceo, who ensures that every cigar meets the brand's high standards. Our experience with the H. Upmann No. 2 was overwhelmingly positive, with the cigar exhibiting a consistently even burn. The flavor profile began with subtle notes of tea and wood, gradually deepening to reveal a rich tapestry of chocolate, nuts, and a hint of black pepper. The flavor notes detected during the smoking experience included cedar, coffee, leather, nuts, creamy undertones, shortbread, honey, pepper, wood, licorice, spice, and a touch of white pepper, custard, almond, and cocoa, with a subtle twang and baking spice adding complexity to the finish.
