Litto Gomez has undergone a remarkable transformation as a cigarmaker over the past decade, evolving from a relative newcomer to a respected veteran. Initially known for crafting mild cigars, Gomez has successfully diversified La Flor Dominicana's offerings to cater to a wide range of palates, from those seeking mellow smokes to aficionados of robust, full-bodied cigars. The Diez falls into the latter category, a robust Dominican puro crafted entirely from tobacco grown on Gomez's La Canela farm. This 5 1/2 by 54 cigar is characterized by its intense flavor profile, marked by prominent notes of leather and earth. Notably, it features Gomez's signature chisel head, a distinctive wedge-shaped design that sets it apart in the world of cigars. However, the limited size of Gomez's farm, spanning just 100 acres, restricts the quantity of tobacco available for this boutique brand. As a result, production is relatively low, with only around 15,000 Chisel Puros shipped in 2004, although future plans aim to increase output.
